Africa
In Africa theres two diffrent climates. Africa's northeren half is more dry and hot , with deserts. While Afria's southern end is more cool and humid with small rainforset. Africa is home to 17% of the worlds forest. And the 2nd largest tropical forest in the world, right behind South America. Africa also provides 21% of the worlds oxegen. Almost a quarter of the earths oxygen.
So, why are we cutting Africa's trees down? 65% of people depend on trees for food and fuel in Africa. The average trees cut down a year is 40,000 kilometers. In ten years ,2033 ,400,000 trees will be destroyed. As of 2023 almost 50% of Africa's forest has been demolished.
Amazon Rainforest
The Amazon Rainforest is located Brazil, South America. It is the largest rainforest in the world. The rainforest is 7.8 million square kilometers, you can fit the state of Texas about 7 times into the Amazon rainforest. There is about 3 million species living in the rainforest, and over 2,500 different species of trees. The forest has 6\9 of the worlds oxegen. Once covering 14% of land on Earth, rainforests now make up only 6% since 1947. The Brazilian government is cutting down about 800,000 trees a year. To make space for buildings, dams, and farming.
There may be medicine for cancer in the rainforest. Found naturally only in a single rainforest tree species, but with us cutting them down we may never know.
