About me:

I started my professional life with dreams of teaching Spanish at the secondary school level. After graduating from college, I spent 6 years tutoring in mainly 1-on-1 settings (sometimes 2-on-1). Many of my students came from primarly Spanish speaking homes and several also had some type of disability. That experience, along with aproximately 5 years in substitute teaching, gave me more than experience as an educator. It was also a great opportunity to learn about adapting materials and equipment for use by a student with a disability.

In late 2022, I completed a career training program that tought me about the emerging field of digital accessibility. As of Spring 2025, I am in a more comprehensive program to learn more about this crucual area of technology and grow my skills for a new career to exercise my curiosity, creativity, and passion for making content accessible to all kinds of users.

Some features I have included:

  1. Different headings and paragraph level text.
  2. Adding images and creating "picture frames" around them. (Via the border or outline property.)
  3. A toggle button so that users can open and close answers to FAQs on the website for a pretend business project.
  4. Media quiries to simulate the view on different mobile devices.
  5. Incorporating different design techniques for accessibility from the beginning. (Examples: A combination of colors to allow for sufficent contrast, using easily readable fonts, adding Alt Text to images so screen readers can read a description of the image out loud to users with little or no vision.)
