Episode 1: Rebirth Outside the grounds of his high school, Light Yagami discovers a notebook that claims to be able to kill anyone whose name and face is known to its owner. He initially dismisses the so-called "Death Note" as a hoax, but, after testing its powers, he discovers that these claims are indeed real.
episode 2 Ryuk is impressed by Light's forethought and ingenuity. Meanwhile, Interpol convenes for a meeting regarding the rash of deaths of criminals the world over. Accusations and speculation fly over how so many criminals could suddenly die in such a short time, with no known cause of death other than heart attacks.
eipisode 3 Matsuda delivers his report that violent crime in Japan has been reduced significantly, though he does not condone Kira or his methods. After the meeting the Chief and Matsuda discuss the necessity of talking about the impact Kira has had on crime rates. Meanwhile, Light helps Sayu with her homework.
eipisode 4 pursuit Light tells Ryuk that he is trying to create an ideal world where no criminals are left unpunished and that as the god of such a world he cannot sacrifice half of his life for the shinigami eyes. Light begins experimenting to find out how much control he has over how a criminal dies.
eipiside 5 Synopsis. After successfully learning the identity of the FBI agent, Light Yagami waits one week before he decides to kill Raye Penber. Raye briefly confides to Light that he is on a mission, and Light agrees to keep their meeting a secret.

In an effort to repair his relations with the Japanese police, L organizes a private meeting with the remaining detectives who want to work on the Kira case and hopes to do so in secret until Kira is captured. To their surprise, L is disheveled and young, with an eccentric and somewhat dry personality.

eipiside 8 Light opens the chip bag, which contains a mini LCD TV and a piece of Death Note taped inside. He uses this to kill two criminals while appearing on camera to be studying at his desk. Chief Yagami believes this clears Light of suspicion, but L is not convinced.

eipiside 11 Ukita arrives at the station and tries to get a security guard to open the door, but he refuses, so Ukita pulls out a gun. But before he could shoot, Ukita started to have a heart attack, and dies in front of the station. The news of his death reaches the team as Aizawa is angered by this.

eipiside 14 Taking advantage of the situation and of Misa's love for him, Light concludes that he can use her to mislead L, while furthering his plans for a better world. Misa's shinigami, Rem, however, threatens to write down Light's name in her own Death Note if Misa's safety is compromised.
eipiside 15 Worried at the prospect that he might be murdered, as he is convinced the two Kiras have met, L demands that in the event of his death, Light should be arrested. Later, Light and L meet each other outside college. Much to the anger and frustration of Light, Misa appears and converses with the two.
eipiside 16 In a foggy forest, Light relinquishes ownership of the Death Note to Rem. At the same time, the investigation team are still not getting anything from Misa. Just then, Light enters the room and begins to confess that he might be Kira unknowingly, so he requested to be confined for 50 days.
eipiside 17 L and Watari move the investigation team's headquarters to a new building inside the city. Elsewhere, Rem speaks to a mysterious businessman about the Death Note. Eight businessmen then plan the next murder Kira will commit in order for the Yotsuba Group to excel in the market.
eipiside 18 The team discovers that Kira's killings now seem to be connected to a local corporation called Yotsuba. At Yotsuba, the eight members consult each other and send a message to the NPA that Kira will spare politicians if the police stop pursuing him.
eipiside 19 Tired of being treated like crap by the hands of Light, Misa, L, Soichiro, and Aizawa, Matsuda has decided to do something to prove himself of being useful. While trying to help Misa with film shooting, he abandons her so he can sneak into Yotsuba.
eipiside 20 The Yotsuba group are planning their next killings, providing more than enough evidence to arrest them all, but a disagreement is born between L — who wants to keep investigating until they have found Kira's identity — and the rest of the Task Force, who want to arrest Yotsuba there and then to stop the killings.
eipiside 21 After becoming a spokesperson for Yotsuba, Misa concocts a plan of her own — she accepts Higuchi's proposal to go on a date and tells him she's the Second Kira, and that she plans to marry Kira.
eipiside 22 Kyosuke recognizes Matsuda as Misa's ex-manager, whom he knew as Taro Matsui and he believed dead. Realizing that he doesn't know matsuda's real name — since he can't kill him — Kyosuke tries to reach out to Misa, then her current manager, then her company, without success.
eipiside 23 Kyosuke finds the file with Matsuda's name as Misa's manager, but realizes it's fake when he writes it down in his Death Note and Matsuda does not die on the air. Desperate, Kyosuke makes a deal with Rem to get Shinigami eyes — he'd rather lose half his remaining life than be unmasked and end up on death row.
eipiside 24 The Kira Task Force returns to home base, convinced Higuchi was Kira. They investigate the second Death Note and finds its list of rules — along with a fake rule Light wrote into the book that says a Death Note user must kill once every thirteen days or die themselves.
eipiside 25 When the two rejoin the rest of the Task Force, L reveals that he plans to arrest Misa again so he can test the (fake) "thirteen days" rule of the Death Note. Just after he reveals his plan, Watari dies and tries to warn L. But the warning comes too late: Rem, in her last act, kills L to save Misa's life.
eipiside 26 The first half of the episode is a recap from L about the events. The second half shows the Kira Task Force discussing what to do now that L is dead. They see in the newspaper that Watari was actually a rich inventor named Quillsh Wammy who founded orphanages. They suggest having Light as the new L.
episode 27 Back in Japan, post-time skip, Light's family and the Task Force are having tea at the Yagami household when they receive an alert that the head of the NPA has been kidnapped. The kidnappers are demanding the Death note as ransom. Light is unnerved that the kidnappers know about the Death Note.

The episode begins with Near playing with toys at the SPK headquarters. Near tells Anthony Rester he believes that the Japanese Task Force is aiding Kira. in Death Note, In ep 31, Light says he had Misa sign off as the notes owner, and she loses her memory. Earlier it was shown that Light used Misa's note to keep his memories. Bluff the Eavesdropper: Light manages to contact Mikami as Kira despite being watched by his team. He then tricks them in order to remove all microphones and tapes in the room by making it appear that his life is in jeopardy by having Kira on the phone. Light realizes that Near is toying with him, and internally accepts his challenge. As Near hangs up, Light realizes that he has been fighting L this whole time. With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. Yagami Light is an ace student with great aspects who's bored out of his mind. Matt is gunned down by Takada's bodyguards while Mello takes Takada away in a truck. Takada uses a concealed piece of Death Note to kill Mello, then calls Light for help. The police make their way to the scene but find the truck in flames. Light used the Death Note piece in his watch to kill Takada by self-immolation. On the scheduled date of January 28th, Light and the Task Force drive out to the Yellow Box warehouse to meet Near and the SPK in person. Light has arranged for the assassination of everyone there besides himself, thus removing the only remaining obstacles to Kira's power.
last episode 37 Mikami jams a pen into his heart to commit suicide after seeing Light shot and losing faith in "God". While the Kira Task Force tries to keep Mikami alive, Light escapes — but with his injuries, he doesn't make it far. After Light collapses on a staircase in a nearby abandoned warehouse. Light escapes and runs away. He slowly dies in an abandoned building; and the last thing he sees is L. They also show Misa standing on some building; but we don't know if she jumps or not. In the manga: After Light gets shot by Matsuda, he is yelling for anyone to save him. The End.
