A look into the Creatures of the Carnivores games

In November of the year 1998 a unique for its time Dinosaur Hunting Game was released that defined the hunting game genre awarded for its atmopsphere of its world and challenging gameplay while its series becoming a niche. it would spawn a group of dedicated fans for years to come. The name of this series is known as Carnivores, to anyone playing the game first time would look at it as a standard Dinosur hunting game with the Dinosaurs using outdated designs compared to today like somthing outta Jurassic Park mixed with those old stop motion dinosaurs from the early 1900's which could deter some folks, but if you dig furthur into it you would be suprised to find out that the the way the creatures are designed were not made out of a lack luster knowledge on the dev's part, rather an intentional artistic choice that made the games creatures stand out amongst most Dinosaurs of Fiction works.

The World of FMM-UV 32

First off to understand why these Dinosaurs look the way they do in the games and their Origins we must learn about the world these dinosaurs live on it's important to know that these dinosaurs live on. to Summerize its the future around the 2190's a company called Dino-Hunt Corp bought out a planet that has creatures which resemble those of our prehistoric past but are not directly related to our versions. the planet is Named after the Ship FMM-UV that Found it and its Number being the 32nd planet that said ship found during a science expidition. Dino-Hunt Corp has begun to set up hunting reserves planning on making a profit off of the idea of hunting Dinosaurs on an Alien planet along with researching this strange world to discover more about it as Many Ruins of an anchient Civilazation have been spotted over the years and not much information is known about them besides what they left behind but thats a topic for another day.

The Burian Style

Now that we know that the in-lore reason as to why these Dinosaurs look diffrent lets move onto where the real life insperations come from. All of the Dinosaurs look the way they do in game is because they are based off or inspired by Outdated Reconstruction from artist Zdeněk Burian a Czechoslovakian Paloartist who's artwork is the Life blood of the Creatures artstlye as their outdated apprences were intentional since they were based off the Paleo art not its not all one to one recreations of the art into the creatures. as the Herbivores like Stegosaurus and Triceratops look ripped out from the Paintings, However the Carnnivores like T-Rex, Raptors, Ceratasarus, Allosaurus, Spinosaurus and any other Carnivorus Creatures have the Body Posture of their modern day conterparts (atleast in 1998) like in Jurassic Park.

Comparison of a Tarbosaurus Painting which is Europian Cousin to the T-Rex in the real world to the of Carnviores Version of the T-rex of which the Model uses the Tarbosaurus Painting as insperation.
Notice the Diffrence in Posture as at the time of the orignal Painting it was commonly accepted at the time that two legged dinosaurs stood upright like a kangaroo or a Human while the ingame T-Rex has the posture of how we view T-Rex today just with the Skin wrapped Textures of the Paintings. The game even Takes it a Step forward in making their own version of well known Dinosaurs as some creatures aren't even the same size as the earth counter parts. for Example Allosaurus and Spinosaurus are about the size of a Jurassic Park Raptor despite the Fossil Record saying otherwise, Ceratasaurus are Bigger than they should be, T-rex is slightly bigger than the Giganotosaurus of earth and has Armor so thick that unless you shoot it in the eye no amount of bullets will kill it. Their is allot to this small series and while i would like to explain more i don't want to bore you with the all this reading but atleast use this as a starting point for getting to understand these fictional dinosaurs I have provided a Video that gives a Small bit of gameplay here to See the Dinosaurs in action.
