Climate change is something that affects the world every day, even without us completely noticing. Climate change is defined as global warming, an increase on average temperatures. There are many causes to climate changes. Many of those are from human causes over the past hundreds of years or so. Not only is this just the heat, but it’s also weather patterns and water currents. It’s a problem that is currently just starting to be addressed. In the meantime, while the world solves its problems, it’s good to be educated on what’s happening.
Lately for these hundreds of years past, we’ve been using gas, coal, and oil to fuel things from you home all the way to the factory that made your car. These specific fuels make carbon dioxide and releases into the atmosphere. It’s here that it causes problems. These gases trap the heat that would usually reflect. With this heat being stored in the earth, this starts to heat up becoming global warming. Scientist have cracked down on the fact that human activity has made warming times ten times faster.
The ocean is taking a lot of the force. With the ocean absorbing 30% of the fossil fuel released carbon dioxide, it’s something to consider. This makes acidic levels higher and poses a threat to sea life. Thermal expansion is causing waters to rise and teaming up with melting glaciers and ice sheets puts the coast in a tough position. Coral reefs are personally under attack due to their delicate ecosystems. Climate change is turning the coral unhealthy with overwhelming sediment and coral bleaching. Thousands of species depend on these ecosystems to live.
There are so many problems with how this is changing Earth itself. How the Earth works is that the sun gives heat, which in turn is stored, and keeps the Earth warm. The rest of the warmth is reflected into space. Earth has been through seven warming periods and ice ages over the past 650,000 years. This is what has kept the Earth alive for so long and it is also what climate change is destroying.
Climate change is more than just the heating up itself. It also mainly has human causes. Climate change is made with gases and the sun’s heat, but that isn’t all. It’s also the Earth that gets effected from it. While climate change may not be the most concerning, it is a threat to all animals the same.
