Sadie KaneSadie Kane: Sadie Kane is the youngest child of Julius and Ruby Kane and the sister of Carter Kane. She is one of the most powerful descendants of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs to be born in centuries. She becomes one of the strongest magicians in the world along with her brother, Carter and her uncle Amos, although she is the strongest magician in terms of magic as she can speak the most number of Divine Words. Sadie Kane was born in California on March 17th, to Julius and Ruby Kane two years after the birth of their first child, Carter. On her sixth birthday party, she and Carter had a fight about blowing the birthday candles, and when they triggered each other's powers, they accidentally made the birthday cake explode. Later that same year, Ruby Kane died while releasing Bast from her prison (Cleopatra's Needle) in the Duat while she was fighting a monster named Apophis. Although Julius wished to keep both his children, Sadie's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Faust, took him to court and won custody of their granddaughter, with Carter and Julius only able to visit her twice a year. The House of Life may have manipulated this outcome to keep Sadie and Carter separate. Sadie then began to live in London as an English schoolgirl and eventually lost her American accent for an English one. She has two best mates at school, Liz and Emma. Her father gave her a cat, Muffin, who was, in reality, the host of the goddess Bast. Sadie would sometimes go into the Egyptian section of bookstores and read books her father wrote so she could feel a connection to him.

Carter KaneCarter Kane: Carter Kane is the eldest child of Julius and Ruby Kane and brother of Sadie Kane. After the death of his mother at age eight, he spent the next six years traveling the globe with his father and living out of a suitcase. He would visit his sister and maternal grandparents twice a year in London, with the siblings each envying each other’s lives. When he was fourteen he became aware of the House of Life and he and his sister brought back a long forbidden form of magic. Carter becomes the Pharaoh of the House of Life and is one of the three most powerful magicians in the world, next to his Uncle Amos, and tied with his sister. He is also the boyfriend of Zia Rashid. Carter was born in Los Angeles with his father Julius Kane, mother Ruby Kane, and his younger sister Sadie Kane. During his sister’s sixth birthday they got into an argument over who should blow out the candles. During the fight they inadvertently and unknowingly used their magic, causing the cake to explode. Their parents told them that one of them must have punched the cake as a cover up, but neither believed that. When he was eight, after his mother died, he travelled all around the world with his dad, and after six lawyers, two fist fights, and The Spatula Accident, Mr. and Mrs. Faust took custody of their granddaughter. Julius tried to get custody of Sadie, but was unsuccessful. Following that failure, Carter traveled the world with his father, going to various tombs and places and being forced to dress "impeccably" in dress shirts and khaki pants. Carter could only see his sister twice a year and secretly envied her normal life while she envied his. At age ten he was in Paris when a riot broke out. His father hid him in a near by car and told him to keep his head down until he said so. After a few seconds the chaos ended with only them on the street.

Walt StoneWalt Stone: Originally one of the new trainees that Sadie Kane and Carter Kane were training along with Jaz and originally came from Seattle, Washington. He is known as a sau; a charm maker. He is one of Sadie's two love interests and as of The Serpent's Shadow, Anubis' first human host. Walt/Anubis is currently in a relationship with Sadie.Walt comes from a family descended from Akhenaton. Due to Akhenaton's wish to destroy the worship of the gods, priests cursed Akhenaton and his offspring, which is why the pharaoh Tutankhamen (his son), and later descendants died at an early age. Practicing magic tends to speed up the curse, so Walt uses amulets, which store magic in advance. He lived in Seattle before and is a natural sau (charm maker). His dad had died from the curse (Akhenaton is from his dad's side) and his mother was very worried about how Walt has until about age sixteen, though Tutankhamen died at eighteen. No doctors could help, though, and it seemed Walt would die soon. He then decided to go to the Brooklyn house and learn magic. He then learned that if he used amulets and hosted a god he would live longer. So he learned how to use the amulets, and then hosted Anubis. He did not want to tell Sadie for a while and then later on she realizes that he was hosting Anubis.

Zia RashidZia Rashid: A female Arab magician and a powerful scribe of the House of Life. She was the favored one of Ra and hosted Nephthys when Julius Kane freed the five children of Nut. She is also the girlfriend of Carter Kane.Zia lived in an Egyptian village known as Al-Hamrah Makan (meaning The Place of Red Sands) with her father and mother. Zia's father was an Arab farmer who would search for artifacts in exchange for payment from archaeologists. When she was eight years old, her father brought home a small red statue, unaware that a monster was sealed inside. He unwittingly unleashed it and it destroyed the entire village. The House of Life found her hidden in a fire pit and under some reeds, where her mother had hidden her; she was the only survivor. Chief Lector Iskandar took her in, but found that Zia had no memory of her life. He provided her with the details of what happened to her, as well as photographs of her village and family, something that Zia later included in a shrine to her family. Zia then began to train as a magician in the First Nome; when she turned thirteen, she was the only one in her age group to remain in Egypt.

Amos KaneAmos Kane: Carter and Sadie's uncle, the younger brother of Julius Kane, and the current Chief Lector, being the most powerful magician in the world. Not much is known about Amos's past except that he presumably grew up with his brother, Julius, and trained as a magician in the First Nome, becoming a member of the House of Life. He was the last member of the Twenty-first Nome, located in Brooklyn, before Carter and Sadie arrived. He lived in Brooklyn House with his pets Khufu and Philip of Macedonia. He was present for Sadie's sixth birthday party and was splattered with icing when the siblings accidentally made the cake explode. Julius says Amos was never his match, so if Julius wasn't dead (or exiled), he would be Chief Lector before Amos, possibly before Desjardins.
