Thoughts About Coffee
Coffee is a great way for people to take a break between classes, or be elevated to another place mentally. My favorite things about a coffee shop is that it's a space where you can just sit, and you can take your time. You can wait for inspiration to hit you, or you can choose to work on that project with determination. Or you can take a journal. Or you can strike up a conversation, meet a new dog. It symbolizes a place of gathering. I think the French were on to something, when they always went to cafes.
The View from Outisde
There's people that like to sit on the inside, and people that like to sit on the outside of a coffee shop. Both have their perks. The inside is often more suited for studying, while the outside is often more suited for socialization, sitting with dogs, or even taking a nice nap. Below is a picture of the outside.
Story Time
Once upon a time, there lived a little hedgehog who liked to sniff coffee. He lived in a little hole that was underground, and he had three sisters and a brothers. They always made fun of him for his love of coffee. Why do you keep on seekking this coffee out, they would ask him? Don't you have other things you could be interested in? Besides, the humans aren't really safe. What if they discover you while you are out there following the scent of their lattes and decaf venti grande machiatos? Better for you to join your brother the squirrel in hunting out pine nuts. You would have much more in common, they said. But little hedgie the Hedgehog did not listen to them. He was determined to follow his nose, and follow the scent of the freshly brewed coffee. He even made some human friends, and they joined together and drank some lattes and talked about life, as it were, in their respective cases.
The View from Inside
Inside a coffee shop, you will often find people reading their books, working on assignments, sketching some drafts, also messing on their phones, or scrolling, as they call it. You will see families sitting down, with different generations. Sometimes, mothers will be frustrated at their children, and tell them to stop behaving a certain way. Other times, it will be a joyous celebration where others gather to mark an achievement, such as graduation, a dance concert featuring kids, or prepration for travelling for a school activiy such as mock trial.
