Math Extra Credit Assignment

A recipe my family loves is a cookie recipe I found online a while ago. Here are are ingredients:

  • 1 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 cup white (granulated) sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • ⅖ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • What would I have to do to triple my ingredients?
    Here are my calculations.

    1 cup * 3 = 3 cups (salted butter softened)
    1 cup * 3 = 3 cups (white granulated sugar)
    1 cup * 3 = 3 cups (light brown sugar packed)
    ⅖ cups * 3 = 1⅕ cups (pure vanilla extract)
    2 eggs * 3 = 6 eggs
    3 cups * 3 = 9 cups (all-purpose flour)
    1 tsp * 3 = 3 tsp (baking soda)
    ½ tsp * 3 = 1½ tsp (baking powder)
    1 tsp * 3 = 3 tsp (sea salt)
    2 cups * 3 = 6 cups (chocolate chips)
