Front Wheel Drive

Front Wheel Drive (FWD) is where the car's driving force is applied to the front tires. Usually cars that have this type of drivetrain are better at fuel economy and handling.

All-Wheel Drive

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is where the cars driving force is applied to all four tires in the car (this also applies to cars that have more wheels, like six-wheel vehicles). This style of drivetrain benefits for great traction and stability for conditions likes snow, ice and mud.

Four-Wheel Drive

Similar to AWD, Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) is the equivilant of two birds in one stone. The vehicle is capable of selecting between Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) and Four-Wheel Drive (4WD).

Rear-Wheel Drive

Just like FWD, Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) is where the vehicles driveing force is applied to the rear tires. The benefits for Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) is for the vehicle to have improved handling, weight distrobution, better acceleration and cornering.
