This is the first Etude from Burgmuller's opus 100. These etudes are a beginning to early intermediate level group of studies for piano. They are offered as recommended repertoire for Piano 1C at De Anza College. Candeur translates from French to mean innocence or candor. The work opens with lyrical pastoral-like melody. Some of the things that this etude works on are: Legato playing, small scalar elements, alternating melodies between both hands, although mostly in right hand still.
This is the second Etude from Burgmuller's opus 100. The title is L'Arabesque, which means in the Arabic style. According to the Collins dictionary, an arabesque "refers to a short, highly decorated, and whimsical piece. The term was borrowed from the visual arts to describe music that has a swirling, ornamental quality with many flowing, delicate melodic passages." Some things to keep in mind in this etude are the light-hearted character, the flourishes, and striving to give contrast between the different articulations and dynamics.
