Origins

The story of Lego starts in 1916 when an man named Ole Kirk Christiansen bought a woodworking furniture shop. They made things like tables and chairs.

Toys,Toys,Toys!

The Lego company didn't start creating toys until 1932 after The Great Depression brought down furniture sales drastically.Then, a fire completely destroyed Kirk's Workshop. So after all that, he started to make piggy banks and wooden pull toys.

A few years later, Kirk named the company Lego or leg-godt meaning play well in danish.

The Beloved Bricks

In the 1940's, Lego introduced an idea that innovated the company forever. Plastic injection molding. This new technology created the interlocking bricks we know and use today. These bricks included systems of studs and tubes making the abilty to create and breakdown easy.

The Great Expansion

A few years after the creation of Lego bricks, The Lego Company introduced new ideas. Such as Legoland, new pieces and, little figures. Called...MINIFIGURES! Minifigures have been the face of Lego since they were made in 1978 and from those, new character and series of sets were made.

Modern Magnification

Nowadays, Lego has apps, discovery centers, and a bunch more. They have 50+ kinds of sets including things like Disney,Wicked,Architecture sets and, more.Innovation changed Lego from wood to plastic and now, they are a toy loved by all.
