Sun City Paints is a naturally sourced, sustainable pigment producer located in Southern California. Our pigments are perfect for artists devoted to historical and traditional accuracy, and those concerned about environmental impacts.
Our classic Carmine coloring is sourced much like it was in the 16th century: through cultivation of the Cochineal, a plentiful insect that lives on cacti. Our arrangement is multipurpose, allowing the insects to live and grow on Prickly Pear cacti, which also produces fruit that gives our Juicy Red pigment its color.

After the main pigment is selected, our paints are bound together not by plasticine acrylics but by saps and waxes.
Due to the shifting availability of sustainable populations, our available pigments rotate often. Be sure to check back frequently!
