- Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays because of the company’s founder, Truett Cathy, and his belief in giving employees a day of rest and worship if they choose. When he opened his first restaurant in 1946, he decided to close on Sundays so both he and his employees could take a break, spend time with family, and recharge for the week ahead.
