This is my introduction to you about very large numbers!
The most basic form of math is succession, or counting. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, …).
Addition is repeated succession. 9 + 10 is 1 added to 9 10 times.
Multiplication is repeated addition. A x b is a added to itself b times[1] (90).
Exponentation is repeated multiplication. On computeres, this can be noted witha ceret (^). 10^9 = 10 x itself 9 times.
Tetration is repeated exponentation. This can be denoted with two cerets (^^). A^^b = a^itself b times.
3^^3 = 3^3^3. 3^3 = 27. 3^27 = 7,625,597,484,987.
3^^4 is 3^7,625,597,484,987, or 3^3^3^3. This number has trillions of digits.
A Dekalogue is 10^^10.
Pentation is repeated tetration, and can be used with three cerets.
9^^^10 is 9^^9^^9^^9^^9^^9^^9^^9^^9^^9. This number is crazy huge.
So, there ar e larger numbers. An Icosa-taxis is 10^^^20. That is crazy.
3^^^^3 (3 hexated to 3) is 3^^^3^^^3, or 3{4}3. This number can be denoted as G1. G2 = 3{G1}3. G3 = 3{G2}3. This sequence repeats until it gets to G64, which is 3{G63}3. This number was the largest number used in a mathematical proof wen it was released.
The largest number in 2025 is even larger. A Boggol is 10{1,000}10. A Boogoltriplex is 10{10 {10 {10 {100} 10} 10} 10}10. Imagine that but with Graham's number "10"'s on each side of "100"!
There are bigger numbers out there!
A Graatagold is, in hyper-e notation, E100##100#100.[3]. It can also be written using commas, like {10, 101, 1, 2} [2].
A Baggol is 10 -> 10 -> 10 -> 10 -> 100 in chained arrow notation, or can also be, in Bird's array notation, {10, 10, 100, 3} (exact) [3]. A Googoloogol is even bigger. It is that same Bird's array notation, but with 10^100+1 entries!Just think about how large a number with Graham's number entries. Or with a Graatagold entries. Or with a Googoloogol entries! These numbers are hard for most people to imagine.
